Dr.
Hinkamp graduated from Stanford University
with a degree in Chemistry and Biology.
He is Board certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1987,
American Board of Thoracic Surgery in 1989, and received the American
Board of Surgery Surgical Critical Care Certification in 1997. He did both his residency and
fellowship at Loyola University Medical
Center in Maywood and has been actively practicing
since 1988. Dr. Hinkamp’s surgical case volume includes
standard coronary as well as redo coronary artery bypass surgery, valvular surgery, and redo valvular
surgery. He has extensive
experience with aortic surgery of all types, including dissection and thoracic
and aortic aneurysm surgery.
Vascular surgery includes carotid endarterectomy
and peripheral vascular surgery.
Dr. Hinkamp has a large thoracic
practice and sees patients with complex lung tumors and advanced
pulmonary disease. He was
instrumental in the development of the heart and lung transplant
program at Loyola
University Medical Center. He performs heart transplantation at Loyola University, which includes both
standard and redo heart transplant surgery, as well as both single and
double lung and heart/lung transplantation.
