In 1975,
Dr. Foy graduated cum laude from Georgetown University
in Washington, DC. Three years later, a doctorate of medicine
followed at the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine
in Maywood, Illinois. Continuing at Loyola, Dr. Foy completed
his internship and residency, as well as a fellowship
in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. During his residency,
Dr. Foy received the prestigious Kaiser Award for outstanding
contribution to surgical education as a chief resident.
Dr. Foy is board-certified by both the American Board
of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
He is also a fellow in the American College of Surgeons
and the American College of Angiology, as well as a member
of the International Society for Heart Transplantation,
the American Medical Association, the Society of Thoracic
Surgeons, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Chicago
Medical Society, the Chicago Surgical Society and the
Will-Grundy Medical Society.
In addition to his work with Cardiac Surgery Associates,
S.C., Dr. Foy is an associate professor in thoracic and
cardiovascular surgery at Loyola. He is the surgical director
of heart transplantation and circulatory assist devices
at this prestigious school. He is also program director
for the residency training program in thoracic and cardiovascular
surgery.
